Through Employment Ontario, VS Group administers the Ontario Self Employment Benefit Program (OSEB) in the regions of Nipissing, Parry Sound and South Temiskaming.

The objective of the OSEB is to support entrepreneurs through the early stages of business growth. Through OSEB, you will receive the support and training for a strong foundation on which to build a successful business. The program provides eligible participants with the knowledge they need to create a business plan and encourage them to follow that plan. VS Group customizes and develops seminars based on the unique nature of each individual business and conducts site visits to assist you along the way.

Who is Eligible:

• You are legally entitled to work in Canada
• Eligible to receive EI benefits in the past 3 years (and depending on certain conditions, it may be up to 5 years)
• You are ready to start a new business or purchase an existing business

What Business May be Eligible:

• A new business or existing business in which the applicant has no prior ownership
• A business suitable for public funding as per ministry guidelines
• Seasonal
• Home based
• A hobby converted to business
• Can be sole proprietorship
• Can also be partnership or
  corporation*

Funding:

Financial assistance is available to qualifying participants to cover basic living expenses and may also cover incremental costs such as dependent care, disability and transportation.
